Yue Xu, pronounced "you-ay shu," was originally born in Beijing, China and moved to the U.S. when she was 8 years old. Although she's spent most of her life in the U.S., she still speaks fluent Mandarin and stays connected to the Chinese culture. Yue lived in East Lansing, Michigan before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado. Upon graduating from Poudre High School, Yue attended University of California at Berkeley where she double majored in Business Administration and Sociology. While up North, she had the opportunity to be a Featured Dancer in "The Matrix: Reloaded." She worked hard for 4 days on set and knew right away that she wanted to pursue the entertainment field. As a result, Yue moved to LA after graduation and immediately signed with Dorothy Day Otis Agency (DDO) as a hip hop dancer.
However, that wasn't the beginning of her career, it was just a taste. And her curiosity for the corporate world quickly took over and she accepted an offer at a strategic marketing consulting firm in Connecticut. While at her job, Yue continued to audition and was slated to become the new host of JoJo New York, a TV show for Sinovision that was going into its second season. Ecstatic by the opportunity, Yue quit her job and began her move to NY. About a month before her final move, she was informed that the show had been canceled due to budget. Deeply disappointed by the news, Yue took it as a sign that maybe the entertainment industry was just not for her. She soon took a new job as a strategic Brand Planner for a prominent advertising agency in NYC. While she was happy at her job, she still reminisced about her brush with entertainment and was itching to find out where her potential could take her. Finally, in the summer of 2006, Yue made the difficult but confident decision to quit her job (and Corporate America) to pursue acting full time.
Yue booked her first acting audition as a teenager for a Pepsi industrial. Shortly after, she hosted an Ikea online video competition which opened her doors to the world of hosting. In 2007, she shot a pilot for E! Entertainment called "Batsu!" with "Heroes" star James Kyson Lee (Hiro's sidekick, Ando). Not wanting to neglect her love of dance, she joined the dance team for the popular professional lacrosse team, the New York Titans, and danced at the world's most famous sports arena, Madison Square Garden. Later that year, Yue co-hosted the first season of the technology home makeover show, My Home 2.0. available now on Verizon FiOS On-Demand. While technology was exciting, Yue felt the need to explore her passion for fashion. In early 2008, she became the new NYC correspondent for Shoetube.tv exploring all that NYC fashion has to offer. In addition to those projects, Yue has also created a series of blogs for 1938media.com which combine insightful observations, controversial racial discussions, and humorous perspectives all wrapped in a no nonsense, "in your face" package.
Yue currently resides in Manhattan and hoping to rescue a puppy in the coming year.
